Hotel impression

Hampshire Hotel – La Grande Cure in Marcourt is a small-scale, hospitable hotel with a restaurant and a wellness pavilion. The chapel of Saint-Thibaut is visible from the terrace. The chapel, still an official place of pilgrimage, offers you a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The medieval village of Marcourt on the banks of the river Ourthe, is a lovely destination for a weekend away in the Ardennes. There’s fantastic walking and cycling to be done in the wooded valleys of this region.

"Family weekend in great place"
We spend a weekend in this cosy hotel with 6 adults. Diner is very tasty, refined and in a warm dining room. Breakfast is ok. On sunday the offer was larger than on saturday, which is not logical. There is a great fire place which gave a warm character to the salon. We booked the spa for 2 houres which has beautiful views (we had a misty day) and which is really great having for your own even when it is not cheap. We had the standard rooms which are ok. Some reviews speak of kind if a smell in the room which was true for our room, not the 2 others. Good beds. Silent area. Great walking around. We probably will be back next year because we all loved the small character, the fire and above all the food! Very friendly people. The price booking directly was better than booking through booking.com what I usually do.

"nice break in a soothing environment"
We had a pleasant weekend during our stay. The environment of the hotel is very quiet. The room was modern and also the bathroom. The food is from a very high level both diner and breakfast were very tastefull. For hiking in the neighbourhood you can become a map with routes in the hotel. There is also a wellness that guests can use. For a short break we can recommend this hotel for sure.

We visited this hotel for one night on our return from a road trip as the location is perfect for Calais the next day. Upon arriving we were upgraded rooms which was a lovely surprise to a comfort room with balcony. The room was spacious and spotless with a lovely large shower which was powerful. Bed was extremely comfortable. We then hired the spa area for ourselves which had a step machine , comfy chairs and sun loungers and a wonderful warm jacuzzi which is outside on decking and a hot sauna. Well worth the money,we were so relaxed in the spa with a wonderful veiw over the valley. Total privacy to relax. Dinner was a delight , very high standard each course cooked to perfection. Breakfast was very nice, plenty of choice. We will be returning on a regular basis as a perfect spot when travelling to and from Europe from Calais. The hostess was extremely helpful and just really nice we were made to feel so welcome. Highly recommend this hotel and also the serene Spa area!!

"sylvester in Belgium"
We booked this hotel because we wanted after a busy Christmas a nice place where we could celebrate together the new year. This without fireworks and a lot of crowded parties. It was an arrangment for two nights with both days perfect food and whines. Cosy and friendly in a beautifull surrounding. We had nice walks in the Ardennen.

Tourist attractions

Have underground adventures in the company of a guide at the Caves of Hotton. This extraordinary Walloon natural heritage site is a collection of 6 kilometres of caves situated approximately 70 metres underground. The world’s smallest city is to be found in the Belgian Ardennes: Durbuy. Visit tourist attractions such as a traditional brewery and the Saint-Amour jam factory in this little city with its medieval city centre. In summer there is a darling tourist train. If you would like to know more about the Battle of the Bulge during the Second World War, visit the Bastogne War Museum, Musée de la Bataille des Ardennes or the Ardennes Poteau ‘44 Museum.

Chorophyll is the substance that gives plants their green colour. Chlorophylle is the slightly complicated, but entirely logical, name of a recreation forest park in Manhay. Children can have the time of their lives here, for example walking a gangway that leads them right into the tops of the trees. And at Le Château Féodal, the medieval castle in La Roche-en-Ardenne, there’s lots to do all year round. During the summer months, there are shows by archers and falconers and medieval weekends and ghost days. Around the world, the Ardennes have a reputation as a challenging outdoor area. Along the Ourthe there are unlimited possibilities for hiring a kayak or for families to go rafting down the river.
